Set In 1964, once the death of his wife, Ip Man discovers he has throat cancer due to smoking. After his revolutionary son Ip Ching fights help adjacent to a bully, he gets expelled, and Ip decides to travel to San Francisco, united States to look for a school. His student, Bruce Lee, has crash the local martial arts community in San Francisco by foundation a Wing Chun school, teaching the Americans martial arts and writing an English language stamp album upon martial arts.[5] He discovers from an link and his friend, Liang Gen, that a referral letter from the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent membership is needed to enroll into a school. Her daddy Walters, who is an manager of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, is pressured into holding the membership answerable and deporting all Chinese united once them. Meanwhile, Hartman, a Staff Sergeant in the united States Marines, attempts to persuade Barton Geddes, the Gunnery Sergeant, to incorporate Chinese martial arts into their hand-to-hand achievement training. Due to a tip-off by a student of Lee, the membership is left blank by the period the immigration officers achievement the place. Lee provides refuge for the Association, earning their respect. Wan is seriously slighted from the battle once Geddes. Ip, filled once emotions, finally reveals to his son that he has cancer, which finally allows him to talk to his daddy on top of the phone after many attempts by Ip. Ip is brought into the Marines' camp by Hartman, and defeats Geddes in a fight. Wan has already prepared the letter for Ip, but the latter said that he does not target to impinge on to San Francisco as he does not once the place. Ip reconciles once his son. A mighty but tired Ip instructs his son to film him as he demonstrates Wing Chun upon the wooden dummy. Ip succumbs to his cancer, and it is revealed in the epilogue that the Marines had officially incorporated Chinese martial arts into their routine in 2001.
